In the true story and movie Awakenings in which Robert De Niro plays a patient with a sleeping sickness and Robin Williams plays a doctor, it shows that while Robert De Niro is in the sleeping comma state for decades, he does not recall anything. In fact when he awakes from the sleeping sickness he is not aware that 30 years have gone by. He still thinks of himself as a little boy and when he looks at the mirror he realizes how old he is and how many years have passed since his last awakening.
My question is that if the "Witness" that Deepak talks is really separate from the phisical body, why was Robert De Niro's "witness" not aware while been in the sleeping coma? It's like brain damage totally affects consciousness.
If what Deepak teaches is correct, why does brain damage affect conciousness and awareness? Why are conciousness and awareness affected by brain damage? Doesn't this proof that conciousness and awareness is a product of the phisical brain?
